Mac lusting - which Boden mac to go for?

I know it's a bit stereotypical "Yummy Mummy" but there's a reason why Boden are popular.  They know colour, they know pattern and they know quality.  For the last 5 years I've bought myself a Boden Rainy Day Mac.  I've had two and I'm currently planning my third.  I'm just stuck trying to decide which one to got for!  I can't afford to buy one this month so it'll give me some time to decide, but I thought I'd ask for some help.

These are the two I've had before:

As for my next one, I've narrowed it down to three:

Initially, I am most drawn to the dotty patterned macs.  What makes me hesitate is the colour choice.  These are the boldest ones available (I like bold) but they aren't really that in your face.  The blue is nice, but it's very safe.  I really like the yellow, but I already have a yellow duffel coat which I wear a lot and a yellow body warmer.  I wear yellow tights a lot but look like a yellow jelly baby if I wear them with a yellow coat so I need another colour option!  I also think it'd be nice if they'd put a stripy liner in the hoods of the dotty print coats.

That brings me to the stripy print.  It's bold, yes, but I'm not wild about the colours.  It's the pink that's putting me off to be honest.  It's a little too powder/baby pink for me.  I do love stripes, but in coats, I'm not quite so sure.  If this had bolder colours in it, it'd probably be the one.

What are your thoughts?  I suppose if pushed, at the moment I'd go for the blue dotty print.  I like the flash of yellow you get from the liner and the blue will contrast with more of my dresses, tights and jeans... but still!!

Help me choose whilst I get saving....

Toddlers and photo-shoots

OK, OK, I know that taking photos of myself posing in my everyday clothes doesn't really qualify as a "photo-shoot" but let me have my fantasy eh?

I don't very often ask hubby to take photos of me in my outfits.  I always feel a little self concious and I'm not always happy with the results, so I usually stick with the trusty self timer.  At least that way I feel I'm not inconveniencing someone!  Taking photos with self timer is fine.. It's not so tricky.  What is tricky is trying to do it with a nosy three year old in the house who has to be with you at all times.  Let me present you with the evidence.

These are the photos I took of my outfit the other day..  Enjoy!

Oi! Move it!

OK, I'm just going to roll with it.. Can you see me?

Phew.. managed to keep him out of this shot!

Oh! Hello, it's you again!

Ha! Can't get in this shot, can you?!!

Tee - Primark (a while ago)
Jeans - GAP
Shoes - Clarks
Jacket - Boden
Beads - Mum's from the 70s
Broach - Local boutique

To be honest, I think he steals the show!!  All moaning aside, I don't really mind Ethan sneaking into my shots.  He just wants to join in, and it's not his fault he's so used to posing as soon as a camera appears.  In over three years I can count on one hand the amount of days I haven't photographed him..

On to the outfit. This is one of my go-to outfits when I want something comfy and practical, but also stylish.  The jeans and tee are simple and easy to wear, but the shoes and jewellery lift it out of "forgettable".  My jacket cannot be ignored as well.  I am a HUGE fan of Boden when it comes to jackets, this is my second of their gorgeous print jackets, it always brightens my day and was well worth the £90 I forked out for it. I think my favourite detail is my crochet broach.  I'd love to say I made this myself, but I suck at needle/hook crafts of all kinds.  I got it in a local boutique which you can read about here.

Do you have these problems when taking your style/outfit photos?  I can't be the only one! Do you take your pics yourself or have an assistant?  I don't think it'll be long until Ethan can take decent shots of me himself!

Magpie Monday - Boden

I've not joined in with Magpie for a couple of weeks... I've been trawling the charity shops but not come across anything very much!  I keep on looking though..

I had a bit of luck this week.  I found a Mr Men book for Ethan for 49p - no pic I'm afraid.  It was brand new, one of the modern ones, so nothing exciting, but Ethan loves Mr Men so it was a great find for him.  Went in his "poo prize bag" (he gets prizes every time he manages 4 poos in the potty/loo!).

I also found a Boden dress for £4 in charity shop in Nailsea.  It was a very lucky find actually.  I owned the same dress before - well, not exactly the same one, but the same design and print, but it was too small for me (bought on eBay).  This one was the next size up, so when I saw it on the rail in the shop I got all jumpy and excited.  You know when you feel like you've spotted the best thing in the shop and you start checking over your shoulder to make sure no-one's about to pinch it from under your nose and you get nervous butterflies?  Well, it was like that.  I marched off to the changing room with it AND IT FITTED!!! Yay!  Sweet, sweet, sweeeeeeeeet!  I can't really afford brand new Boden.  Not unless it's in the sale and a treat!  This made me very happy.

I have a pic from the changing room:

Yeah, I wouldn't normally wear it with black leggings and these boots.. but hey!

Also have a couple of pics of me wearing it the other day, but they don't really show it off very well!  It's lovely and comfy though.  Going to be fab if the summer ever arrives...

Well, that's all for this weeks' bargain hunting... hopefully I'll find more for next week.  Don't forget to head over to Missie Lizzie's place to see what the other bargain hunters have found!
