Funky Kid Friday - Tale Of My Boy

One of my greatest Insta buddies is Sooby of +Standing Bythewall fame.  You probably already follow her.  In my opinion (and many other people's too, I'm sure!) she has one of the best feeds on there so you must go check her out.  Anyway, Sooby sent us a package of gorgeousness this week, her little Penn had grown out of a fantastic Tale of A Boy romper and she passed it on to Felix!

We had to get it on straight away and it looked amazing.  Felix wore it for gymnastics class this week and it proved to be great for leaping around, walking the beam and bouncing!  It also looked pretty damn cool in our sunny garden!

That brings me to the weather - hasn't it been stunning this week?  I don't want it to end!  It feels like summer is here.  Longer evenings, that warm smell in the air.  Birdsong.  Blue sky.  Ice creams.  Heaven.  It doesn't matter what season it is, I enjoy each one when it rolls around.  I adore the smells of Autumn, the mists of November.  Crisp cold walks in Winter.  Buds on the trees in Spring.  But there's something about the thought of summer coming along.  I just feel a smidge more alive and motivated!! And when it comes to the blog, that's a good thing!

The good weather has meant the jelly shoes are out!

On a slightly amusing note, Felix fell asleep on the living room floor on Tuesday - at least he looked cool whilst snoozing!

Trendy Thursday - Marmalade Sky Baby Clothing

I love finding lovely new brands, especially small work at home ones based in the UK.

One of my most favourite finds of the last few months is Marmalade Sky Baby.  Sarah is the lady behind Marmalade Sky and she makes some of the coolest children's clothing you will find in the UK and you can be sure you're getting quality and supporting a lovely work at home Mum.

I asked Sarah if she could make some shorts for Felix.  He only had a couple of pairs and with all this wonderful weather he needed some more.  Sarah has some lovely fabric to choose from but I had my eye on her rainbow print.  She was happy to whip up a pair for us and promptly did so.

Well, last week we happily took delivery of them and they are GORGEOUS! Due to their colour (a sort of pale sage green) they pretty much go with any other colours.  The pattern is pretty flexible too!

Today we paired them with a snake print Mini Rodini vest.  He looked awesome!

Have you found any new brands lately?  Do you love trawling Etsy and Folksy like I do?  If you do, share your favourites with me!

Trendy Thursday - Rompers, Playsuits, Jumpsuits....

I really love all in one outfits.  Even for myself.  They are so retro, so reminiscent of childhood.  Even though they can be a pain in the butt (literally) when it comes to trips to the loo or nappy changes, they just look so darn cute.

This Sunday just gone Ethan was rocking his new Indikidual jumpsuit and we both thought it rocked.  Ethan has a thing about jumpsuits/rompers as well.  He loves to wear them.  They just seem to boost his mood, they feel fun and playful.  This jumpsuit has cute jellyfish all over it so he kept telling me he was a jellyfish.  Especailly with his jelly shoes on!

Jellyfish romper - Indikidual via KyNa Boutique
Jelly shoes - Project Jelly
'Dad' vest - Minti via eBay
Harlequin leggings - Rock Your Baby
Moccasin sandals - Monkey and Mole

Felix was sporting a rather fantastic pair of bright harlequin print leggings from Rock Your Baby (a super cool Aussie brand) which we really love.  I can vouch for them being hard wearing - twice he's stained them and each time I've managed to get the stains out and they've washed really well.   They just look amazing.

I can't write this week without mentioning Felix's new Bobo Choses romper.  It is INSANE it's so lush.  I love out slouchy it is, plus, due to it's slouchy nature, it'll have loads of growing room so I think he'll be wearing it a good while.  It's a simple spotty print but simple is all you need sometimes!

Where has my Mummy style gone?

I don't seem to have done very much blogging about my style and clothes lately.  Of course, it's not that I haven't been bothering with what I wear, I have.  I still plan my outfits the day before (after checking the forecast of course!!) and I still like wearing lovely bright colours and patterns and putting my make up on.  For some reason though, the blog has been more about the boys and the house over the last few weeks....

So.. time for a long over due post on what I've been wearing!

It was my birthday last week and I treated myself to some new footwear - some shoes I've been lusting over for many months now.  With summer around the corner (I hope!) these were the perfect new purchases, some Saltwater Sandals and some Sunjellies! Yay!

I'm enjoying wearing both pairs.  They are very comfy and don't need wearing in either (well, not for me).  If you do find them uncomfortable, Sun-San recommend wetting your Saltwaters and then wearing them so they mould to your feet.

Clothing wise, I've picked up some really fantastic items in Asda lately.  Their range improves constantly and gets updated on what seems like a weekly basis, sometimes even more frequently! It's really hard not to pick something up when I pop in there, especially as it's close to Ethan's school and we're always in need of more milk or bananas.

The denim pinafore was a total impulse buy.  There was just one there in my size, it was hanging all by itself in amongst some other dresses and it just jumped into my basket. Ehem.  Anyway, I'm glad I got it, it's really cute!

The cherry blossom dress I bought online and I love it.  The print and material are really pretty.  It's quite short but is fine with tights and looks best worn with a thick waist belt.

I'm going to link up with Momma In FlipFlops for Real Mom Style and Transatlantic Blonde for What I Wore Wednesday.

"It's really hard to make a 4 year old look cool!"

We went out into Bristol on Sunday to see a few more Gromits before they were being removed.  We headed to the Broadmead/Cabot Circus area as we hadn't seen any of those and I also needed to pop into GAP to get some baby socks (they really do the best socks, don't they!?!).

Whilst out we received a lot of compliments on the boys' outfits and also our fantastic Cosatto stroller (more on that another day).  I do dress my boys quite differently to how other people dress their children.  I'm not afraid of colour, pattern or things that are a bit different! However, I've never received as many comments as we did on Sunday! My favourite comments came from the staff in the Bristol branch of Lush including:

"Wow, It's really hard to make a 4 year old look cool, but he really does!"

"He looks cooler than me!"

"He couldn't be more on trend - tie dye, jellies and socks.."

Girl one "That is the coolest buggy I've ever seen, where is it from?!"
Girl two "Are you getting broody?  You're not even pregnant!!"
Girl one "No, but when I do have children, that's the buggy I want, I want to know where it's from!"

I know it's a silly thing, what my children are wearing isn't really that important, but then I do want to teach them that it's OK to be individual, to be yourself and one of the ways I've always expressed myself is through my clothing.  I've always dressed a bit differently, not been afraid to wear unusual items (I used to rock a red Lycra cat suit when I was 12 - bit difficult to go to the loo when wearing though!!).  I hope that by dressing them like this they learn to express themselves and not to be afraid to be who they are.  Of course, I'm not going to force them into certain clothes.  When they get to the stage that they want to choose their own I'll hand the reigns over to them.  Even now I ask Ethan to choose items he likes.

So.. what was the outfit Ethan was rocking that sparked so much attention?  Here we go!

Ethan wears:

Tie Dye top - handmade by a friend
Leggings - Salt City Emporium
Jelly Shoes - JuJu Jellies via Project Jelly

Felix wears:

Do you use Instagram?  I LOVE Instagram, it's about my favourite thing online, it's one of the first things I check in the morning!  For a while now I've been following a lovely lady on there called Susan who'd I'd like to introduce to you because she has the most stylish family ever and the way she dresses her daughter Penny is nothing less than inspiring.  You need to follow @soobylynch NOW!!

Thank you to all of you who linked up last week.  I hope you got to your blog to comment.  I'm afraid my head is all over the place at the moment.  Of course Ethan started school last week, we've all had colds and the baby is teething.  Last night we barely slept and all of us have been awake since 5am so I'm only just managing to cobble this together! Have a good week everyone - now it's over to you! Link up your children's fashion posts below, don't forget to comment here and visit others who join in!

Trendy Tuesday - Jelly Shoe Love!

Did you have jelly shoes as a child? If, like me, you were a child of the 80s (and teen of the '90s! Let's not forget the high heeled Ju Ju Jellys from '95!!) then chances are, you did.

I loved my jelly shoes.  They were perfect for the summer, perfect for the beach, perfect for holidays.  As a child we holidayed in France most years.  We didn't always camp near a beach, sometimes we were nearer a river, and French rivers were lovely to swim in.  Jelly shoes were just right for that because it was safer to have shoes on when paddling and swimming somewhere like that, protecting your feet.  I have a soft spot for jelly shoes :)  When I spotted a pair on Instagram last week, I had to investigate.  I discovered a rather gorgeous pair being sold by Project Jelly.  Project Jelly is a fundraising project, raising money for Mencap, a fantastic learning disabilities charity, a collaboration with JuJu shoes.  25% of all profit from each shoe sold goes to Mencap and shoes retail at £17.95.  Ours arrived very quickly after ordering and came with a cute little bag which Ethan has taken to.

Ethan loves his shoes, he wants to wear them to bed.  I love them as well. They look adorable with socks but I know they are going to be really handy as well, after swimming lessons (we all know how hard it is to pull socks on damp feet, it'll be much easier to pop these on!) and when we visit the beach - easy to clean!

It's been a good week for clothes in our house.  I got a huge bundle of clothes for when Felix is older in the charity shop, some items were unworn with labels attached, Zara Baby, Minymo, Snuglo - some cool brands!!

We're still really loving the Indikidual leggings and Felix has been rocking his zebra print tights!
