September. One of my favorite months. Of course, it is the month that sees the return to school and the end of the summer but I often find that weather in September is lovely. Days are often quite warm and sunny but there is the added benefit of slightly snugglier nights in and dewy morning mists with autumnal fragrances in the air. Autumn, that season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.
Leaving June and July far behind, it's the time of year where layers are extremely useful. It's not quite time to bring out the winter coat, it's not cold enough. But the winds can bite and the rains come down all year round!! I find with my boys it works well if they wear a fleece and then we carry a fold up mac or thin raincoat which can be used on top.
A brand I think do this very well are Joules. Their fleeces are warm and very soft. Soft being key with my boys and many children I think! No one likes scratchy clothing! The Joules clothing range includes a variety of coats and jackets ranging from thinner fold up rain macs. These are great for popping over thick jumpers or fleeces but also easy to carry around. I like to keep pack up macs in our car for emergencies! I also keep one for myself in our buggy shopping bag. You never know! It's true that you can pick up cheaper rain macs but I can vouch for the quality in these, something you appreciate when the rains start to fall and the wind blows. The elastic is tight enough and the zips are tough. I've been caught out before in cheap macs and ended up wet and freezing!
I don't just think about coats in Autumn, I take a good look our wellies, check they still fit and, most importantly, check they are watertight! Another thing I've learnt to check from experience. Puddles aren't quite so much fun when you can actually feel them! Over the years we've had various brands of wellies but my favorites have to be Hunter and Joules (again!). We all currently have Hunter but Ethan just grew out of his Joules mustache print wellies (can't wait for Felix to fit them!) and I just had to replace my pheasant print ones are a few years hard use! I rate both brands for wellies, they are hard wearing, warm and have chunky soles with good grip. Very useful when chasing a two year old around a muddy wood!
What are your essentials for Autumn? Anything you can't do without? I'd love to know!

Keeping warm with Joules
Sometimes, I think the designers at Joules live in my head. They have such a way with pattern and colour, it really speaks to me!
I'd love to be able to buy a whole heap of clothes from Joules, but unfortunately, we're on a limited budget. I recently sold a heap of baby clothes, shoes and some of my old clothes on eBay and once my profits were happily in my paypal account, I decided to treat myself to some winter essentials from Joules. If I can't afford to buy dresses, socks and tops from them, I can at least get my winter essentials from them!
So, what are my winter essentials? Well, I love a good pair of wellies but my pair from last year are still going strong (they were Joules actually, pheasant print. Adore them!). I have a warm coat.. what I needed was a new gilet/body warmer. I have always loved the ones sold by Joules, so I knew that was going to be my first purchase. Then, to compliment and update my winter wardrobe I decided some knitwear would be a good idea, a new hat and maybe some gloves. Want to see what I chose?
I asked for opinions on Instagram at first with regards to the gilet. I loved the colour, a nice bold mustard yellow and the contrasting blue & white stripes inside the hood, but I wanted to make sure people thought it looked OK on!! The consensus was good though.
I love the new hat and hand warmers. The hat is really snug and looks cute on. Love the pompom detail as well. The hand-warmers tie the look together. What I really like about hand-warmers is that you can put them over other gloves for an extra layer. I find they work really well over leather gloves because leather gloves aren't too bulky but sometimes they benefit from some extra warmth!
There are so many more items I could pick from Joules, but my budget is limited!
Are you treating yourself this winter? What are your winter essentials?

What I Wore Wednesday - Maternity Style 30 weeks onwards
A quick style post today. I know that I've been slacking in the style stacks, but can you cut me some slack in the late stage of pregnancy? I'm really struggling now.. I feel I have so few outfits/items to choose from. I'm still restricted by relatively cold weather. Hopefully by the time baby arrives we'll be able to enjoy some warm weather and I can break out the maxi dresses and birkenstocks. Ahhh, comfy summer clothing!
Here are a few outfits from the last few weeks:

Getting back into the swing of things..
Blogging has really taken a back seat over the last few weeks. Obviously I took a planned break when we were at Centerparcs, but when we got back, I was ill and this week Ethan has been ill.. with all that illness and a few other things thrown into the mix, I'm afraid I've been very slack and have been neglecting my blog.. even my emails are going a bit crazy. I'm trying to get back into things now.
I'll start off with something nice and simple. What I Wore Wednesday. This is literally what I wore today. We didn't leave the house much, just for a stroll after lunch to retrieve Ethan's wellies from preschool. I went for a nice warm Autumn look...
This jumper dress is an Autumn/Winter staple of mine. Very cosy and snug, it also has a gorgeous Nordic style pattern which I love. I'm afraid you can't really make out the pattern on my socks, but it's very similar, just different colours!
I found this snood in Primark at the weekend. I was queueing up to buy a few pairs of PJs I'd spotted for Ethan when I noticed this had been dumped by someone else. It cried out to me "Pick me up! Take me home with you!" As I had robins around my neck, I thought I'd bring out my birdy/owl boots. These boots have been with me for years now. They are a little tired, but I love them. The print has to be one of my favourites EVER. Just soooooo cute!
Can you spot my Stella & Dot bling? I recently invested in a Kalahari Bangle which comprises of two zebras. I like to think they are kissing!! Love it.
Linking up with all the usual suspects today, Transatlantic Blonde & Pleated Poppy.
Hopefully this is me getting back to my usual blogging form now... fingers crossed!

Trendy Toddler Tuesday - Spiderman, Wellies, t-shirts & skinny jeans
I've been buying a few additions for Ethan's wardrobe lately - ha! like he needs it! Well, actually, he did need some new wellies. You probably already know I buy ahead. Ethan is currently in size 7 wellies, but I had bought size 9 and 10 wellies when I'd seen some on sale. For some reason though, I'd failed to get a pair of size 8 which he should hopefully move into soon! I was at a garden centre recently and spotted a gorgeous pair of Joules boys wellies with moustaches on them. They were amazing, but unfortunately they were far too big. I decided to track some down online and finally found a pair in size 8 on a site I hadn't used before, Welly Warehouse. They stock loads of cool welly brands. I'm salivating over their ladies selection (I could do with a new pair myself!) so I think I'll be visiting them again soon!
The other items I bought for Ethan recently were some Threadless t shirts. If you are in America, you probably know all about Threadless. You may well know about them if you live in the UK. They are quite well known these days. I love Threadless, they seriously have the best choice of cool t shirts ever. Most of my "picture" tees are Threadless ones. Ethan had a few of their tees and onesies when he was younger. I decided to get him a couple of tees to grow into. They are so awesome and I can almost guarantee that no other children in Clevedon will be rocking them!
I popped into Asda this week and they had these gorgeous fleece spiderman onesie pjs, so I decided to get some for Ethan, I thought they could double as dress up. They are so warm and soft. To be honest, I want my own. In fact, the guy at the checkout said the same to me when he scanned them, "If only they had these in adult sizes!". Of course, I know Primark do adult onesies. Perhaps I'll have to invest in a pair. It's the loo problem that puts me off though...
I also got Ethan a pair of Asda skinny jeans in a burnt orange colour. He doesn't need more, but I love having a variety of colours for him to wear on his bottom half. I'm always really impressed with the quality of Asda children's jeans. For £5 they are perfect.
