Don't mock my moccis!

Ethan and I had a very action-packed day today. A trip to Tesco and Lidl. A lovely visit to the local veg shop to order globe artichokes (they are so lovely there and offered to lend me a coat seeing as it'd started raining!), a coffee at the yummy Coffee #1 and an afternoon at Cadbury Garden Centre with the (Grand)parentals. But most importantly a walk up to the Post Office to pick up a parcel - my Moccis moccasins!

I bought Ethan a pair of Moccis quite a while ago now and they have stood him in good stead. They looked so comfy and I'd always fancied knowing exactly how comfy! And now I know! They feel gorgeous. I feel like I've got the benefit of slippers but without having clompy feet! Plus they look really fun. I went for ones with licorice alsorts type sweets on them and Ethan has enjoyed pointing and poking at them. If you happen to want the coolest slippers around (in my humble opinion) check them out here:

Here's the obligatory photo!

Not much else to update from today. Have done a bit of re-jigging in the kitchen and moved a canvas print from the kitchen into 'Narnia'. Pics of course!

Nighty night!

Blocking around....

Yay! I've finished Ethan's blocks. At first I was worried they wouldn't be very good or would be boring looking. However, after getting the courage up to age them (it seems alien to deliberately muck up something you've done!) I really got into it and I'm very pleased with how they've come out.

I've used an Old English style stencil to do the letters of Ethan's name. I had six blocks so on the 6th one I drew two hearts (because I'll always love him!) and stencilled on his date of birth. I'll post a good few photos.

We've had an enjoyable weekend. Pete and I escaped for an evening out on Friday, we enjoyed some yummy tapas and wine at a local lounge bar. Spent the majority of the weekend with our families. And doing our various projects (me = blocks, Pete = shelving in the garage).

Here's a pic of Ethan sporting a 'tattoo' Pete gave him this morning!

I know...I know! Two entries in one night!

I just thought of a few more photos I wanted to share!

I've been meaning to include a pic of Ethan's "Face Cake" from his party (painted in food colouring by Pete):
Also, some up-to-date photos of Ethan's bedroom and other parts of the house (it's always a work in progress, our house!):

And some craft projects - here's the stool I re-upholstered a few months back:

These are some blocks I'm working on for Ethan. I've been meaning to do these for months. So far I've done the first coats of paint, then I've got to age them, sand them down a bit and stencil on his name!

Bargains galore!

Firstly let me apologise for my last post - it was lazy! In my defence I was keen to post again but tired..

OK. On to today. It's been a good week bargain wise so far. On Monday I had an email from Threadless http://www.threadless.com/?gclid=CJLOmOe5oKMCFRNBlAodvCi-_g which mentioned that they had free postage if ordering one or more kids item. Hurray I thought! I've loved Threadless tees for years and have a few for Ethan already. But more? Yes please! I was very restrained and only added one to my cart http://www.threadless.com/product/2179/Music_of_the_Night and also one for me http://www.threadless.com/product/2413/Streetlife . I selected free delivery, paid via paypal and then it all went wrong. My order didn't go through properly :-( Turns out I wasn't the only one with this problem though, and Threadless dealt with it really promptly and offered all those affected $10 off! So, all in all, the two tees have cost me just over £10 including the postage! Total bargain for something so original and unusual over here in the UK. I know Ethan will get loads of compliments when wearing his!

My second bargains of the week are these rather eye-catching Katvig numbers:

Second hand via ebay, they are used but in excellent condition. Ethan's already worn the shorts and I love them on him:

Apologies for the photos being in the wrong order, but blogger is having some sort of fit and won't let me move them around! Anyhoo.... I'm very pleased with them. I think what I like most about the Katvig clothes I have more Ethan is how soft they are, and how well they wash. Especially as I mostly buy them second hand - you'd never realise it!

I also finally won a Moonkids item on ebay - some gorgeous blue and white striped overalls (http://www.moonkids.se/news/?m=201004 ) - age 2 so it'll be a while before he can wear them. They are so funky and 70s looking! I've lusted over them for ages. Pics when they arrive!

My third bargain of the week thus far? Charity shop haul!! I found a bag of 100 play balls (the kind you get in ball pits) for £2.50. Here's Ethan enjoying them:

I also got this funky pottery jug - I thought it would go well with the container I keep my herbal teabags in (from a local potter Liz Riley http://www.lizriley.co.uk/ ) In fact, you can see Liz's piece in the second photo:

Finally, I found one other bargain in the Charity shop, a dress for me! The retro pattern caught my eye. It's originally New Look, so not some exciting designer or genuinely old piece, but I like it. Please excuse my terrible dead expression in the photo!!

Now I'm going to go a few days back in time and talk about our weekend just gone- and not from a clothing point of view. We spent Saturday at the Habourside Festival in Bristol. It was heaving by well worth a visit. If we hadn't had Ethan with us, I expect we would have stayed until the evening as they have a rather huge firework display, but we still enjoyed our day there. Lots of stalls to peruse. We had some veggie buritos which were average (boo) and some tasty shakes. We met up with Phil and Leni. Best of all though I think was sitting around in Queens Square and enjoying the live (free!) music. We really enjoyed Siddy Bennett. Her lyrics were in-depth and her voice very deep and lovely to listen to. Here's a link to her facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Siddy-Bennett/58846363894 . OK - some pics from the day!

I've a few more photos to add from the weekend - here's a stupid photo of me inside our old TV cabinet - we finally got a new gorgeous wooden one so had to dismalness our crappy old one, and I thought I'd get in it....as you do!

On Sunday we enjoyed the traditional weekend fodder of eggy bread and spent the afternoon hanging out with the grand parentals. In the pic of Ethan with Timmy the dog (who was my cousins, then mine, and now his and is nearly 40 years old bless him!) the lens cover got caught by I quite like the effect:
Finally, here's Ethan in my favourite childhood tree, the one I used to sit in at the end of my parents garden in the orchard and contemplate the world. It's an old tree now (well, as apple trees go - probably 40 ish by now) and it's on it's last legs (or roots?!). Dad is going to chop it down soon so I really want a photo of Ethan in it. Then we will ceremoniously burn the wood in our pizza oven. Here he is:
OK, I think that's all for tonight!

A whole year of being a Mummy!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I've done it again! Left it months without an update.. What can I say? Life gets in the way. My last blog started with my birthday.. and since then Ethan has had his and is now ONE YEAR OLD! How can that be? We've also had a weeks holiday in France which was rather lovely.

I expect one of the reasons I haven't blogged for a while was due to me having a bit of a PND relapse. I came off my medication and was considering having to amend the name of my blog. But I wasn't coping. So, to keep a long story short, the name of the blog remains the same. You may fill in the blanks.

On to happier things. I ought to say something clothing based. All I can think of just now is a) it's too darn hot and humid to wear much (Ethan is asleep upstairs in no more than a nappy) and b) just how does one get a baby to wear a sun hat for more than 2 minutes? Don't suggest ties.... Ethan just unties the hat and then enjoys a good suck on the ties.... Ah well, the sun has bleached his hair a beautiful blond. He's sporting a cute baby tan and looks like a little surfer dude!

Now.. I'm going to find some cute pics! I'm too tired to say anything about them.... may edit the blog later!!!!

Tuesday 11 May 2010

Sooooooo... another birthday chalked up on the great blackboard in the sky! 28 years old (young?). As has often been the case, I shared my birthday with election day. Thankfully we do postal votes in our household, so it didn't 'get in the way' of my day in anyway.

I've had a nice birthday - suffered from the post birthday blues shortly after, but it was very nice and extended into the weekend. Thursday (birthday) I spent with my parents, we visited Fyne Court (National Trust) - just had a little walk and enjoyed their coffee shop.

We then popped into Watchet where Mum and I perused the second hand bookshop (we made their day buying 10 books between us! They said we'd doubled their sales for the week!). I've included a few pics from Watchet. I was enjoying the textures as you can see! Don't you think that anchor looks like it's on a thickly iced cake?

We also partook of some ice cream. Ethan enjoyed his day... but didn't nap very well and as a result was very overtired come bedtime. That combined with teething meant we had a VERY BAD NIGHT. Happy Birthday! Thankfully it's becoming a distant memory now. Poor little mite! We had our friend Chris over in the evening to join us in birthday cake and a movie:

I got my lovely present from Pete!

We had some cool balloons with LEDs in them - here they are in the garden (long exposure):

Friday we went to Cardiff so I could buy some much needed bras. I came away with three lovely new bras which are comfy and fit properly! Yay! We also popped into Paperchase (bought some paint brushes) TK Maxx (purple Berkenstocks! Whoop!) and Topshop (knickers and a nightie!). A good days shop. Ethan loved getting the train there and back - not his first time on a train! He enjoys them, looking at the view rushing by outside and flirting with all the other passengers! We popped into Mothercare whilst we were there and entertained Ethan with a Lamaze Octotunes - he loved it so much, I'm now trying to win one for cheaps on ebay...

Had some drinkies at The Rummer in Bristol Saturday night - mmmmmmmm gorgeous cocktails!

Sunday we went for a pub lunch with friends which was scrumptious!! Truly yummy :) Here's Ethan with Alice:

I'm feeling quite excited tonight... I've come up with a new project - I'm going to sand down, varnish and re-upholster a stool of ours that is rather worse for wear. Just ordered some gorgeous Japnese fabric from ebay. Probably won't be able to start work on it until Thursday as I have dance tomorrow... if I can sand it down and varnish on Thurs that'll be great.. that'll be the most time consuming bit.....

For your pleasure (!!??) here are my berkenstock clad feet with glittery nails!

Buggy Snuggling and Romping around...

I realised whilst reading over old posts that I never actually got around to posting a pic of the buggy snuggle I got for Ethan's buggy. I've not actually got a pic of the whole thing at the moment (mainly because most of our pics are taken at the weekend when we're out with the car and have our obaby stroller with us (which has a cowprint buggy snuggle). What I do have is a pic of the part which stays in the buggy when the top half has been taken off- as it's been warmer recently, this is the only part I have on the buggy. Though if it stays as chilly as it has been today for much longer I may well put the whole thing back on again! (and if I do I will take a pic!).

So, in these pics, Ethan had fallen asleep in Coffee#1 http://www.coffee1.co.uk/ (they do the best coffee, try it if you're ever in the south west!).

I hope everyone has had a good May Bank Holiday weekend? Despite the not so amazing weather (don't know what it was like across the country... it was sunny and wet here. Not too bad, but not amazing and very cold!). We had a very family orientated weekend, didn't get up to much, but it's been relaxing. Today we took Ethan to the swings with Uncle Phil and Aunty Leni:

Ah, I know what I was going to talk about! Rompers! I LOVE babies in rompers. They look so cute in them. I just love the whole all in one aspect (*ahem* I own my own version - complete with owls on it lol!). I've bought several for Ethan. My No1 fave is the very retro harlequin inspired design by Liten (which actually features in the buggy snuggle pics):

The above wasn't cheap... can't remember how much exactly, it was second hand (but never worn) so not the usual £25.... but I'm fairly sure it was around £10. However, this next offering came in at a rather barginous 99p. It's another ebay bargain, from Asda initally:

Thirdly, we have a summer romper from MeeToo which is very formula one! Ethan was only wearing this one after peeing all over the above:

Before I sign off for tonight (because as usual it's far too late) I just want to pimp my solar fairy lights which I bought half price from Tesco. They work far better than the unrealiable crappy ones I bought from ebay a while back! This is them up for the first time without even charging!
