I don't very often ask hubby to take photos of me in my outfits. I always feel a little self concious and I'm not always happy with the results, so I usually stick with the trusty self timer. At least that way I feel I'm not inconveniencing someone! Taking photos with self timer is fine.. It's not so tricky. What is tricky is trying to do it with a nosy three year old in the house who has to be with you at all times. Let me present you with the evidence.
These are the photos I took of my outfit the other day.. Enjoy!
Oi! Move it! |
OK, I'm just going to roll with it.. Can you see me? |
Phew.. managed to keep him out of this shot! |
Oh! Hello, it's you again! |
Ha! Can't get in this shot, can you?!! |
Tee - Primark (a while ago)
Jeans - GAP
Shoes - Clarks
Jacket - Boden
Beads - Mum's from the 70s
Broach - Local boutique
To be honest, I think he steals the show!! All moaning aside, I don't really mind Ethan sneaking into my shots. He just wants to join in, and it's not his fault he's so used to posing as soon as a camera appears. In over three years I can count on one hand the amount of days I haven't photographed him..
On to the outfit. This is one of my go-to outfits when I want something comfy and practical, but also stylish. The jeans and tee are simple and easy to wear, but the shoes and jewellery lift it out of "forgettable". My jacket cannot be ignored as well. I am a HUGE fan of Boden when it comes to jackets, this is my second of their gorgeous print jackets, it always brightens my day and was well worth the £90 I forked out for it. I think my favourite detail is my crochet broach. I'd love to say I made this myself, but I suck at needle/hook crafts of all kinds. I got it in a local boutique which you can read about here.
Do you have these problems when taking your style/outfit photos? I can't be the only one! Do you take your pics yourself or have an assistant? I don't think it'll be long until Ethan can take decent shots of me himself!
I'm linking up with Not Dead Yet Style for the fantastic Visible Monday linky, Watch What I'm Wearing and Momtrends for Monday Mingle!
Well...he does steal the show!! So cute...both of you are really cute! I love your shoes!
ReplyDeleteHe does, doesn't he!! Thank you - they are lovely and so comfy. Clarks do such good flats I find.. Thank you for commenting and dropping by :)
DeleteHello Alex, and thanks so much for joining up with Visible Monday! i agree with Pam, your son is a natural scene stealer, so adorable. Love your look too!
ReplyDeleteThank you and thank you again Patti! :)
DeleteHe is a handsome young fellow. The last shot seem like natural for him to pose or does he? He looks like he is natural in front of the camera. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the visit too.

Hi Kim - thanks for your lovely comment :)
DeleteHe is a natural I'm afraid.. he's just so used to it!!
Yes, I am going to have problems this week because no one is here to help me with photos. I have to try the self timer on my camera... I have yet to use it and can't find the directions on how to do so. Your son is adorable! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Self timer photos really can be a pain in the butt... I bet you'll do well!
Deletelove your stripe + floral + brooch ... casual outfit perfection!!!
ReplyDeleteJust dress him in a coordinating outfit and have him be your accessory! Oh wait -- you've already done that! Love his monster PJs. Very cute post and welcome to Visible Monday. It's a fun little corner of blogland.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm really glad to have linked up with Visible Monday, everyone is lovely! It's a cute top, isn't it!! I'm not really supposed to be showing it off yet, it's a sample from Polarn O.Pyret so shhhhhh... let's keep that quiet until I'm allowed to officially discuss it...
DeleteWell, I would definitely call this a fashion photo shoot. The two of you look like you're very coordinated in a colorful fun way. Nice to see you at Patti's Visible Monday!
ReplyDeleteThank you! We do try!
DeleteJust love those vivid colors together, Alex! And that jacket is absolutely DARLING!!! ~Sarah
ReplyDeleteYou look great and your Ethan is adorable! ;) My little dude is 4 and he is in at least one picture in most of my blog posts. ;) I guess that's just life with a little boy. ;) Lately he has been playing the back ground, but he has indeed jumped in front of the camera on plenty of occasions! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one with this cute problem!
DeleteMy four year old loves to photo bomb my shoots too! Thanks for being a part of Monday Mingle!
ReplyDeleteHaha, photo bomb!! Love it!
DeleteHi There! Thank you for stopping by! My mom takes all of my photos, and we go throughout Chicago looking for fun places to photograph! Your son is adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is a fantastic idea! I need to get more "on location" shots.. I bet people are fed up seeing my house in the background.. And thank you :)
DeleteWhat a bright and happy look! I love that Ethan has wandered into your photos--it's the touch of reality that more blogs need.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I think there's a fair bit of reality here!! :-D
Deletelove the color on that jacket
ReplyDeleteXo Megan
Haha, this is awesome! That is exactly what happens when I use the self timer with my little ones around :)
ReplyDeleteYou look great though! I'm now following your cute blog and would love if you would stop by and say hi!
Modern Modest Beauty
Thank you - I will certainly return the compliment and make sure I follow your blog :)
DeleteThank you :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful and very stylish jacket, indeed! And that flower broach is gorgeous; the cherry on the top! I prefer to take my pictures with a self-timer because I'm also very self-conscious about other people taking them, especially if I'm posing... Your little one is really adorable!

ReplyDeleteYour son brings a whole new element to the photos shoot and I love it!! He's adorable and so are you. Your outfit is perfect, colorful and comfy looking. And you're right, the flower is the crowning touch. My four year old grandson is coming for a visit in a few days; I can't wait!!!
