The boys' Saturday Style

I am an avid clothing lover.  I love clothes and accessories for myself and the boys.  I usually can't wait to make a few choice purchases from Beau Loves, BoBo Choses & Mini Rodini every season.  But I have to be honest.  AW16 sees me strapped for cash.  Or, if I'm honest, less likely to rack up debt just to have the latest styles.  I find it hard. Rationalising my desire to buy them some gorgeous items from the new collections against knowing that it's expensive and they probably don't "need" them.  The urge to click is strong... and the design is strong this season too..  The deer print from Mini Rodini and the whole of the Beau Loves collection.. it's got me twitching my finger over the "at to shopping cart" button..  So far, I have resisted.

This means the boys are rocking much the same stuff they have all year long.  It's not exactly a hardship.  My boys have heaps of clothes.  Like a crazy amount.  The have wardrobes bursting at the doors and draws that really don't like closing or opening.  It does make it difficult for blogging about their clothes though.  So.. Today, I'm not sharing new styles or clothes with you.  I'm just sharing how we're mixing them up.  And I happen to think the boys still look pretty awesome!

Duns it right (again)

If you've read my blog for a while, you'll know that I love Scandi kids clothes.  In fact, my love of Scandi brands is one of the reasons I started the blog!  Back then it was Katvig, Molo, Plastisock and a few others.  I still love those, but I have to say that season upon season, Duns are my go to favorite for an appropriate print.

Duns are always eye catching.  And unisex.  Something I love.  I have two boys but I love that they can share their clothes regardless and they can be passed on to boys and girls alike.  Like all the other brands, Duns bring out a S/S range and A/W range.  For me, the best A/W print out there goes to them.  What says September/Autumn to you?  Autumnal colours, that's for sure.. leaves?  But how about the conker?  Everyone loves conkers! Amusing to find, fun to collect, a favorite toy throughout the generations.  I was ecstatic to see the conker print Duns created.  It's so bold and gorgeous.

I bought Felix a long sleeved top from Funky Little People and myself the age 12 top (which fits perfectly, maybe even a smidge too big).  You know I love a bit of twinning.  They look brilliant.  Felix has worn his every few days.  As always it's washing brilliantly.  Anna from Funky Little People also stocks this print in a single bedding set and I can't tell you how much I want it.  I am truly in love.

Funky Kid Family - Meet the Veggies!

You know I love a bit of twinning.  I don't like my boys to wear the same thing as each other all the time, they are individuals and very much encouraged to speak their minds, have their own views.  But it does look really cute when they match or there's a theme.

The thing is, sometimes I like to join in too!  There are some truly beautiful kids clothing ranges out there if you look for them.  There are epic independent brands like those you find on Insta and Etsy.  Then there are larger brands like Katvig, Polarn O Pyret and all the Scandi brands like Duns.

As a shorty I have a secret - I fit quite happily into clothing made for a 12 year old.  I do a considerable amount of my shopping in the kids department of H&M.  It doesn't stop there though.  I can also fit into the kids sizes stocked by the likes of Duns.  One of my fave online stockists, Funky Little People, stock Duns.  I have been loving their radish print from afar for a long time. I was emailing Anna, who runs FLP, recently.  We were discussing the awesome radish print.  I said I really needed to get the boys some tees in that print but that I'd really love to wear it myself.  I'd told her how I fit into kids sizes and she told me that she had a dress in that print, age 12.  So, we took a punt, I bought it, and it fitted!

This weekend just gone, the boys and I had our first outing all matching.  We did get a few looks, quite a few compliments and a group of teenage girls had a snigger..  Fair enough.  I'd probably laugh at a Mum matching her kids.  But I don't really care.  I love this print!

Funky Kid Friday - Moromini - GET 15% OFF!

Last week I wrote about Moromini, the new brand being stocked at Funky Little People.  Well, Anna who runs Funky Little People very kindly sent us a couple of items from Moromini and we've been trying them out!

Anna sent us a top and a pair of trousers.  The top is size 86-92 which is usually said to be 1-2 years and the trousers are 98-104 which is around 3-4 years.  Both are a smidge big for Felix just now.  Anna feels the trousers are perhaps a little small and the tops come up a bit bigger.  I think she's just about right.  As Ethan is quite short for his age (well compared to the rest of his school year!) - he's 108 cm, I've tried both items on him and they do fit.  Interestingly it's the trousers that look the smallest on him which is funny because the top is age 1-2!! He's very slim so he can fit into a lot of clothes that are officially "too small".  Quite handy really!

Ethan told me that the trousers are "really soft and comfy".  We both like the slightly baggy, relaxed look of them.  A bit like harem pants.  I love the statement of the knee patches.

The print on the top is adorable.  I'm a sucker for anything with raindrops. It's also lovely and soft.

Definitely a brand to watch and I'm very glad Anna has got them in stock - once again she proves she has a good eye.  Good to know they use organic cotton as well.  I should also mention that if you buy any Moromini items this month Anna is offering the chance to win one of their Fair Trade cotton shopping bags!  Shipping is free on orders over £50 and Anna always gets them out promptly and nicely packaged. Readers can also benefit from a special 15% off orders as well using the code 15%OFF.

Moromini - The new brand on the block at Funky Little People

Anna from Funky Little People emailed me earlier this week to let me know about a new brand she has secured.  Not sold in the UK before - quite exciting!

Anna has some stock from Swedish pattern designer Sofia Lindeberg's label Moromini.  The clothes are made using lovely soft organic cotton (much kinder on the skin and the planet) and some of the clothing is even printed by hand!

Just to give you a taster I've included some pictures.

The brand is in stock now and prices start from £16.50.

Trendy Tuesday - Moomns, Monochrome & Tie Dye

Two of my favourite styles at the moment are monochrome and tie dye.  I love tie dye because it's so easy to do yourself - you can funk up a boring item of clothing and feel crafty whilst doing it.  It's so nice when someone compliments you on an item of clothing and you can say "Oh, I did that!" as well.

Ethan loves tie dye.  He only has a few tops.  Felix on the other hand has had loads.  When I was pregnant I died all the neutral and white baby clothes we owned in a variety of tie dye colours.  The looked so cool.  He's grown out of those now, but there is one t shirt I dyed, age 3-6 months which fits him now.  When I made him that one, I made Ethan one to wear as well - I'd happened to find a white Next t shirt in a charity shop for 50p so I thought it was ripe for the dying!!

The results were pretty good and Ethan loves having a top that is a little different to his brothers but similar as well.  They look cute together when they are both wearing them.

I've got to mention this cute long sleeved Moomin vest the lovely Anna from Funky Little People sent us when Felix was born.  I loved Moomin stories as a child and the clothing line is so cute.  Apeals to little ones and adults alike!

We've been enjoying lots of Autumn walks lately, picking blackberries as we go.  I've got to say that I think the tie dye tops look a bit like they've been dyed by blackberries!! Not the case though.. I used them to make a crumble!!

Monochrome I love love LOVE at the moment. On me, on the boys and on our accessories.  I've just had amazing winter accessories made for our Xplory in monochrome chevron and I think they look AMAZING.

Trendy Tuesday - Staying bright when not at school!

We're now into week three of Ethan's school life and I think we're starting to get into the flow of things - kind of!  It's still a bit tricky as he's not doing a full day yet so there's lots of too-ing and fro-ing still but so far getting out for 8:30am has been OK.  It's always a rush but we make it and we've not been late yet.  Which I think is impressive seeing as we have a young baby and are up several times each night.

One of the things Ethan and I both miss with him being in school is the lack of opportunity for cool outfits!  Of course, I understand the need for uniform, and I do think uniform is a good thing.  Whilst it does make everyone seem a little less individual, it does remove some chances of bulling and most importantly, if they get mucky at school, it's the uniform that bares the brunt, not nice home clothes.  Ethan is one for getting messy, so that's definitely a good thing!

I'm quite looking forward to the first non uniform day and the first school disco though.  Ethan will get a chance to shine there, I'm sure he'll be one of the funkiest dressed children!  I love that he enjoys his clothes, enjoys picking them out and wearing fun bright colours and prints.

So, what have the boys been rocking when not restricted by uniform?  Well, here's our week in photos:

Trendy Tuesday - Zezuzulla

I've written before about the online children's clothing shop, Funky Little People.  Anna, who runs it, is really lovely and has fantastic taste to boot!  If you haven't before, you should really check out her shop.  There's a link/advert on my blog at all times, but there will also be links throughout today's post!

Anna recently discovered a Polish children's clothing brand, Zezuzulla.  Now, whilst they are obviously not Scandinavian, they must surely be influenced by Scandi brands - just take a look at some of the items Anna stocks.  They definitely have a Scandi feel.  If you read my blog regularly you'll know how much I love Scandi clothing brands for my boys.  You may even know about our Polish connection (my husband's maternal grandfather was Polish - that's why Felix's middle name is Jakub).  So, this brand is perfect for us!

I have a couple of Zezuzlla items in Felix's wardrobe (I say wardrobe, it's actually a chest of draws).  Both have a bear print on them.  Yesterday, Felix was rocking these gorgeous trousers.  What do you think?  I really think their items are gorgeous.  Fantastic quality as well, and as the designs are screen printed on, they aren't mass produced items.

Friday Feature - Funky Little People

Hello lovely readers!

I have something new for you today! From now on, I am going to be running a new feature on my blog.  Simply called "Friday Feature", each Friday I will be... well... featuring a company, person or product I love.  If this is something you would be interested in being part of, whether as a company or fellow blogger, please get in touch with me and I'll see what I can do!  I have serveral weeks worth of posts lined up and today I'm very pleased to start with a lovely new company!

Let me introduce to you Funky Little People.  If you are a regular reader you no doubt know all about my love of Scandinavian children's clothing.  Ethan can often be found wearing Smafolk, Katvig, Molo, Snoozy and many other Scandi brands.  I first discovered them when I was pregnant and I fell in love.  Perhaps the closest you can get on the UK High Street is H&M but if you want bright, funky and eco friendly clothiong for your child, Scandi is where it's at!

Funky Little People started life as an eBay shop but recently Anna (the owner) decided to branch out and launch a web shop.  I followed Funky Little People on Facebook and bought in the past via eBay so I knew all about Anna's new venture and wanted to help out in any way I can.  This is what  brought Friday Feature about!  In these times of recession, I want to help out businesses in any way I can, especially ones I like and support.

Anna stocks a variety of children's clothing via Funky Little People.  The brands she stocks at present are Snoozy, Jny Design, Snoffs & Nosh Organics.  She also stocks accessories such as card holders and postcards.  Perhaps best of all (and something quite unique!) she stocks a whole host of Moomin goodies including clothing!

Anna has quite a few bargains available at Funky Little People - for example, there are some beautiful blankets which are £16 instead of £30.  I know I'm tempted by them, even though I have more blankets than a blanket shop!

Also, some fantastic trousers and tops such as these!

I think I'm going to be buying a pair of these trousers for Ethan when we next get paid, and I suspect one of the blankets because you can never have enough spare (beautiful) blankets in the car, can you!!!  After all, we will have an extra person in need of a cosy blanket in a few weeks!

I recommend checking out Anna's shop.  Please remember it's in it's early days, Anna is planning on having more stock soon.  In the meantime, we have a little something for you, lovely readers!!  Are there any Moomin fans among you?  If so, you're going to like the giveaway Anna and I are running - Anna is offering up two lovely Moomin card holders, great for keeping cards handy in your bag, or if you have a bus pass or similar transport season pass you need to hand.
