Duns it right (again)

If you've read my blog for a while, you'll know that I love Scandi kids clothes.  In fact, my love of Scandi brands is one of the reasons I started the blog!  Back then it was Katvig, Molo, Plastisock and a few others.  I still love those, but I have to say that season upon season, Duns are my go to favorite for an appropriate print.

Duns are always eye catching.  And unisex.  Something I love.  I have two boys but I love that they can share their clothes regardless and they can be passed on to boys and girls alike.  Like all the other brands, Duns bring out a S/S range and A/W range.  For me, the best A/W print out there goes to them.  What says September/Autumn to you?  Autumnal colours, that's for sure.. leaves?  But how about the conker?  Everyone loves conkers! Amusing to find, fun to collect, a favorite toy throughout the generations.  I was ecstatic to see the conker print Duns created.  It's so bold and gorgeous.

I bought Felix a long sleeved top from Funky Little People and myself the age 12 top (which fits perfectly, maybe even a smidge too big).  You know I love a bit of twinning.  They look brilliant.  Felix has worn his every few days.  As always it's washing brilliantly.  Anna from Funky Little People also stocks this print in a single bedding set and I can't tell you how much I want it.  I am truly in love.

Funky Kid Friday

Hello and Happy New Year! 2016! Wow, the years sound so futuristic now. You can even ride on a hoverboard.  What's that about?!

I hope you all had wonderful Christmases.  It was good here.  Rushed past as ever.  A blur of family, friends, gifts and food.  Always over too quickly and now we're back to the daily grind.  But that's OK.  I don't mind really!  In fact, we're currently having our kitchen ripped out and replaced so it's all a bit hectic here!

Thank you to lovely Hannah for hosting our last Funky Kid Friday.  So many wonderful link ups.  In particular I have to give props to Hannah herself.  I loved her post.  Twinning is winning in my book so a big yay!

Mini Rodini Pre SS16 Collection

Sound the horn!! One of my absolute faveorite kids clothing brands, Mini Rodini has just released a small pre SS16 collection.. and it includes a unicorn print!!

Fancy a look?

Mini Rodini Pre SS16

Mini Rodini Pre SS16 Unicorn

This is just a selection.  Unicorns - such a good choice.  I don't know anyone who doesn't like a unicorn print.  I think it's great to have a more unisex unicorn print as well.  My two love unicorns but so many clothes that have them on are unbearably pink and glittery.  I'm going to order one of the jumpers!

I love the bold orange and black spot print.  It's simple but a real statement.  The bag looks gorgeous but I love it on the clothes as well!

You can shop the collection over at Mini Rodini's online store but I also know that Scout & Co Kids have some of the Pre SS16 collection in stock.  Just in time for Christmas! The perfect Christmas Day outfit, don't you think ;-)

Funky Kid Friday - Festive Fashion for 2015

Is it too early to be thinking about Christmassy clothing?  Well, as November is just hours away, I think not! After all, if you don't get planning and buying now, it'll be too late!

Last December I ran a kids fashion tag on Instagram, #12DaysChristmasKids.  I gave 12 prompts and asked people if they would like to join in and tag their photos.  Quite a few people did and it was a lovely display of festive fashions.  Great fun.  At the moment, I'm not sure if I'll be doing the same this year but one thing is for sure, I'll be digging out all our Christmas clothing.

Christmas or festive clothing is a tricky one.  After all, if something has Father Christmas printed on it, it's only going to be worn a few times a year.  Add in the fact that children grow quite quickly when they are young, well, you have to think carefully about cost.  I tend to buy Christmas/Halloween/themed clothing larger than the boys need so they can wear it for two or three years in a row.. And of course, anything Ethan wears I hold on to for Felix to wear later on.  So at least most things get a good few wears.  I also look out for bargains online and in charity shops.

My top places for festive clothing are:

1) Smafolk & DUNS (available at Funky Little People and others) -  Smafolk and DUNS relese a new range of Christmas clothing every year.  Their clothes last really well, wash well, are soft and look wonderful.  Ethan has a top from them which he has now been wearing for 3 Christmasses.  It still looks fab.

DUNS Christmas at Funky Little People

2) Supermarkets - Each year I pick up a few little bargains.  Festive socks, slogan tees.  If you are looking to boost your child's Christmas wardrobe for a small price, places like Asda and Tesco are great for this.  Sizes tend to be more snug so I often size up.

3) Charity shops - Obviously Christmas clothing doesn't get much wear and charity shops often end up with a heap of it which is in great condition.  Come the end of November they start getting it out.   Great for Santa suits and fancy dress items.

4) Independents - If you are looking for something a bit special and want to support smaller business, independent is the way to go.  Etsy and Instagram are awash with cool small brands showing off their Christmas '15 wares.  My faves this year come from Fred & Noah.   They are seriously storming it with their Christmas collection.  An amazing geo print Father Christmas, reindeer and good old candy stripes.  Love it!

Have you ever bought any Christmassy clothing for your children?  If so, do you go all out or is it just for Christmas day itself? Don't forget to link up your kids fashion posts today (see top post).

AW15 at Bowties and Candyfloss

Earlier this year my boys were chosen to be brand reps for new UK Mama-made kids clothing brand Bowties & Candyfloss.  I discovered Bows & Candy when the creator, Alex (good name :-D) was just starting out.  I loved her designs and felt she wasn't getting anywhere near enough exposure.   In fact, I messaged her begging her to stock larger sizes (she was only doing baby sizes at that stage) so I could get my boys in her clothes and show them off.  Thankfully she obliged with some special custom orders and then for her SS15 collection was able to increase the sizes available.

When Alex ran a brand rep search on Instagram I made sure I entered the boys and we were thrilled to be picked.  We have been brand reps for quite a few brands now, some larger, some smaller, but I would say this is one that I am very proud of.  I have really loved being part of the extended family of a brand as it grows.  It gives me so much pleasure to help showcase the wonderful work these smaller WAHM brands are doing.  I love that my boys have clothes that are a bit more unique than your average.

Bowties & Candyfloss launch their AW15 collection on the 23rd of October - not long!  The collection is titled Oh so monochrome! so you know it's going to be great and bang on trend (as they say!).  We received some items for the boys last week and they rocked them all weekend long so I thought I'd share some photos today.  You can get a good idea of what's on offer if you check out Bows & Candy on Instagram.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for the official launch!  Well done on a fantastic collection Alex! X

Funky Kid Friday - Slugs & Snails Tights

Hello all.  I'm sorry for the radio silence.  We moved house last week so both in the run up to that and the aftermath, it's been rather chaotic.  We are starting to get back to some semblance of reality but there is a great deal to do in our new house.  We are all tired out!! Getting the laptop out and blogging isn't my highest priority just now but I don't want to leave it too long.  So, Funky Kid Friday is here today.  Just don't expect to see quite so many posts at the moment!

A few weeks ago we received some exciting news.  The boys and I had been picked as UK brand representatives for the amazing unisex tights/clothing company, Slugs & Snails.  I have been a fan of S&S really ever since they first began, as Kat (the creator) will testify.  I reviewed a pair on the blog years ago and my boys have had Slugs & Snails tights in their draws at all times.  Even now, aged 6, Ethan will happily wear tights.  He either wears them as an extra layer of warmth in winter or under shorts or dungarees in colder months.  He loves S&S in particular because they are bright and fun.

Kat created S&S because she felt there was a gap in the market for tights that were unisex.  It was something that I had spotted as well which is why I ended up finding her tights.  Like Kat, when Ethan was born I wanted to help keep him warm.  The solution is tights or leg warmers but it was quite tricky to find tights that weren't overtly "girly" (gah, detest that word) or frilly.  Now, I will push the boundaries when it comes to what I put my boys in and I was happy enough to buy "girls" tights for Ethan.  He had purple spotty ones.  Pink ones.  It wasn't an issue for me.  But it did create some stares.  As he got older, the issue continued.  Whilst I didn't mind putting him in "girls" tights, I'm not much of a pink fan.  It'd be the same regardless of the sex of my child.  I just don't like a lot of pink!  And so, discovering S&S was a great joy to me.  To be able to buy tights in a good array of colours with some fantastic child and adult pleasing prints on was wonderful.

I still continue to get some looks and raised eyebrows when people realise my boys are wearing tights.  I remember giving some of Felix's old pairs to a friend's wife for their baby daughter.  She had a very funny look on her face and she said "Where did you get the tights from?" I told her that they were Felix's, that he used to wear them.  She looked incredulous! However, we also get a great deal of compliments!

Just look at the wonderful bounty we received from S&S this week!!

Slugs and Snails unisex tights and clothing

I was bowled over.   Felix will be able to wear different tights every day of the week! Perfect timing for winter too.  Even more wonderfully, Kat branched out into clothing and Mama sized tights last year so the boys were sent some beautiful dungarees and elf hooded tops.  And a pair of tights for me so we can all match!  You all know how I love to twin.  I wonder if we could wear our Duns radishes and our S&S tights at the same time.......

Boys in tights?  What do you think?  Practical or weird?

Now it's over to you guys.  Got any kids fashion posts?  Please link them up below!  I would like to say a BIG thank you to my new co-host, Hannah of Make, Do and Push for hosting two weeks in a row - thanks gorgeous!  I don't know how she manages so well with a toddler and non sleeping baby.  Puts me to shame.   I would also like to wish her a happy first wedding anniversary :-)

Funky Kid Friday - changes afoot!

I have exciting news my lovelies!  It has been more than apparent that I have been struggling with hosting FKF in recent times.. because I suck at blogging/being a blogger/life has been getting in the way.  The super lovely Hannah who writes over at Make, Do and Push contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in having a co-host and I bit her text finger off!

Sooooo... as from now, Hannah and I will host Funky Kid Friday TOGETHER! Yay!  I for one am very excited about this.  I'm happy to have some "new blood" involved, as it were, I'm happy because I like Hannah and her blog.  I love her style, ethos.  There are a lot of similarities between us (love of non gender specific kids clothes, home birth, hypno birthing) so I think we'll do a great job.  It'll take a bit of pressure off me which is just as well because IT LOOKS LIKE WE'LL BE MOVING HOUSE IN UNDER TWO WEEKS OH HELL!!!!

I'm hosting this week, Hannah will host next week and so on.  Other than having two hosts, it'll be the same as ever.  Link up your new, and old, if you wish, kids fashion posts.  Please do visit others who join in.  Comment here, comment there, comment everywhere!  Spread the word.  Tweet us so we can RT your links.  Link back to whoever is hosting that week in your post (please do do this, it's a big part of it) and then get excited, because it might be your post that gets picked as our favorite from that week!

That very neatly brings me on to my top pick from last week.  I adored all 4 from last week but the item of clothing I most loved was Addison's Gardner & The Gang dress.  A brand who I've known about for a while now and do like, but for some reason have never bought.  Addy looking so cool has made me think I really need to rectify that!  If you want to read again, pop over here to Kara's lovely blog.

Now.  On to this week.  The linky is below.  As I'm a bit snowed (clothed) under this week (I've got to sort out a pile of clothing that needs to be sold that is now taller than me!) I'm just going to link a post of mine from earlier in the week below.  Please link up your own, and.. you know the drill!

Next week we'll be over to Make Do & Push to link up!

Happy Friday!

Funky Kid Friday - AW15

It's Friday, so it must be Funky Kid!  Here we are for our weekly fashion fix..

I have to be honest, over the last few weeks I've been debating whether to keep FKF running or whether to throw in the Bobo Choses towel.. I know that I've not done it justice for a while.  I am rubbish at actually commenting on your lovely posts and I feel terrible about that.  I know that I need to make more effort.  Otherwise what is the point in you guys linking up?  I know this is a small linky but it's never going to get any bigger if I can't even make the effort with a few peeps joining in.  I think I find it tricky because at the moment the only time I can really do blog stuff is when Felix is at nursery.  Which is for 5 hours a week.  In those 5 hours I have to try to fit in the house work and other chores as well.  Felix continues to be a very full on child who requires constant interaction and supervision.  He doesn't really nap any more, is often not asleep until 8:30/9pm and wakes at 5:30am.  There is very little time for anything!  Everything in my life has slipped.  Exercise?  Forget it!  Anything I want to do comes at the cost of me getting enough sleep.  As we are in the process of moving house I am trying to sell as many of our bits and bobs that we no longer need..  I also have various craft projects on the go.  Most nights I get to bed a bit after 1am and I'm often up with Felix by 5:30am.  So I am chronically tired.  Leading to a need for a coffee, treat and wine every day!!!  I know much of this isn't unusual for a parent of young children, but it's my reason for being a bit crappy with blogging.

All that said, I don't want to give up on FKF yet.  I'm going to try to schedule some reminders on my phone to get me to visit the blogs who've linked up.  I try not to do too much social media stuff when Felix is awake because it always seems a little neglectful to me.  I'm also going to give a little back.  I've decided to add an extra feature to FKF - my pick of my fave outfit from the previous week!  This will give you guys a little shout out :-)

OK, enough blah.  On to the fashion.  In the last few weeks we've seen super cool brands like Mini Rodini, Bobo Choses, Indikidua, Beau Loves and Pop Up Shop launching their AW15 ranges.  As these are quite high end brands, I can't afford to get everything in the collections - that would bankrupt us!! But I do try to get one or two items from most of the ranges.  So far I've bought a few Bobo items and one from Mini Rodini.

This season BoBo have an outdoorsy feel with their "The Unknown Mountain Journey".  I love all the new prints, in particular the moon print.  I'm a sucker for anything with a moon on.   I've got a moon print raglan tee for Felix, a moon print denim bag and a gorgeous snuggly warm infinity scarf - which I'll probably wear myself!

Mini Rodini are all about animals in their prints with a bit of a jungle feel this time.  I am completely in love with the peacock print so that was a must for me.  I got a sweater for Ethan to wear.  It's stunning.

Bobo Choses Mini Rodini AW15 Peacock, Moon, Mountain

As always with these brands, the quality is fantastic.  Which you would expect, for the price.  Whenever the boys are wearing their new items or I use the moon bag, I have a big smile on my face.  I love how cheering they are!

Have you bought anything from the new ranges?  Please do link up your kids fashion posts below.  Next week I'll be featuring my first fave outfit!

Happy Friday! X

Funky Kid Friday - Mini Rodini Swimwear

Hurrah!! The sun has (mostly) got his hat and we've been getting out to play!  I'm lucky enough to enjoy all seasons.  I love the smell in the air in Autumn, the colours, the falling leaves.  I love wrapping up warm in Winter and the chance of snow always excites me.  We don't get it much in Somerset and I just see it as fun, not a bother!  Spring feels refreshing and exciting.  What I love most about Summer is just how easy it is to get outside.  Of course, it's not like all rain stops but it is generally dryer and even if it's cloudy, it's still warmer.  My boys love it outside, Felix in particular. He would spend the whole day outside if he could.

Getting out in the garden means getting the paddling pool and sprinkler out!! I'll be honest, my two do love running around in the nuddy but there are times when a swimming cosy comes in handy!!  Visits to the beach or pool.  On holiday.

I wanted to share Mini Rodini's swimwear collection with you today. MR are a brand that I truly love.  I get very excited when they bring out a new collection but best of all, their old collections don't date.  Their clothing is all fantastic quality (we have quite a bit of it, I can vouch for this!) and it really lasts, washing well.  They have a truly stunning swimwear collection at present.  You can still buy some items from previous collections, they all look great!

I love the UV suits they sell.  I'm a fan of UV suits for kids, especially younger ones.  When you have someone who is outside as much as Felix is, it's useful to know they are protected.  I'll be honest, like many, he's not a big fan of being held down and creamed up!! With UV suits you know that a good portion of their skin is covered.  These suits are the equivalent of SPF 50+, very high, and the material is breathable and dries quickly.  So no staying damp or getting all sweaty.

Mini Rodini Swimwear 2015, Swimwear, Kids Swimwear, Mini Rodini

For older children MR have a stunning range of swimsuits, shorts and pants.  There are some unisex friendly designs and definitely something to suit every child!  I think I would get Ethan the heart print swim pants or the spotty ones.  I'd get Felix a heron print UV suit.  They'd be the most stylish boys by the pool, I'm sure!!

Prices range from £18 for swimpants to £50 for a UV suit.  MR also have a summer sale on just now - worth a look!

What have your kids been rocking this week?  Link up any kids fashion posts below.  Please don't forget to link back to me in your blog post and display my badge.  Tweet me your link and I'll retweet!

Have a gorgeous weekend all!

Funky Kid Friday - More Monochrome Madness!

I still can't get enough of the monochrome trend.  Is it even a trend any more?  Who cares.  I love it.  I remember when I first started buying kids clothes I thought black was too dark a colour for a child and that white was impractical.  So when the monochrome trend first came around I was scared to try it.. but I did eventually pluck up the courage and I'm so glad I did!

Firstly, it looks great.  Stylish.  I know it shouldn't really matter at all whether kids look stylish but I do like my boys to look nice and I don't see anything wrong with that.  I've discovered that actually, black and white work really well with kids.  Black is just about the most practical colour you can put them in.  Try staining black.  It's bloody hard to do.  About the worst you might suffer is a grease stain but that won't be glaringly obvious.  Or bleach, but kids aren't going to be playing with bleach (I should hope!) so that won't be an issue.  So, black?  A total winner.  As for white, well, I've discovered that as long as you take quick action with stains they aren't too problematic.  I like to use fairy soap (which I don't think you can buy any more, the green one) or similar "house hold" green soap as a pre-treatment bar.  A good soak in some soap powder and bicarb (amazing stuff, bicarb!) and then a hang on the line in the sun.  You're good to go.  If you have plain white tees or white clothes with designs that are printed on like screen print or have a plastic-y feel then you can even soak them in bleach and water!

So, forward to now, my boys have a great deal of monochrome clothing!!  One of my favorite high street ranges is Donna Wilson's collection for John Lewis.   The prices and quality are great.  They've had a sale on lately and I had to make a few purchases - and they fitted the mono-brief!!  At the weekend my two wore matching t-shirts my aunt had bought them from BHS.  Not a shop I ever really go in, but they are cute tees!

Donna Wilson, John Lewis, H&M, BHS, Monochrome, Mini Dressing

I still can't get enough of the '2' tee I bought Felix from Nor_Folk,  I've washed it about four times now and it still looks fantastic so they've obviously printed on to really good quality shirts which is always reassuring.  It just looks so bold.  And Felix recognises numbers and knows he's two so he likes wearing it!

Nor_Folk, Norfolk, Two, Cat socks, belle and the bear

He's such a poser, Felix, I think I'm going to have to enroll him with a model agency!!  I'm semi joking there.  I'm conflicted about the idea of young kids "working" and I'm not a pushy Mum.. but at the same time, he does have quite a unique "look" with his lion's mane and he's very used to having photos taken of him!  Anyone have any experience of kids modeling?

Happy Friday all! XX

Funky Kid Friday - Bows & Candy SS15

One of the fab brands we are working with on Instagram, Bowties & Candyfloss, are launching their SS15 collection on Monday 25th May.  There have been quite a few sneak peaks and us lucky reps have been sent a selection of the collection to wear.

My boys have both been sent items from the collection and we are so happy with it all!  It's a really fun unisex collection with a fruity feel to it so it's spot on for summer.  Fruit, in particular, pineapples and melons are a really big trend this summer so Alex who runs Bows & Candy is bang on trend.  Well done Mrs!

Bows & Candy SS15 Collection Fruit Salad

The quality of the clothes is fantastic.  It's lovely knowing that your child is wearing a fairly unique item, handmade by a WAHM in the UK.  The material is soft, comfy and washes well.  No bobbling!  They are all practical as well.  Alex made Ethan an exclusive romper as he's one of her older reps.  The romper has poppers at the bottom just like it would for a toddler or baby.. but this is really handy!  Ethan actually loves wearing "rompers" but mostly for older kids they are all in ones that you have to pull over your head or step into.  Not very practical when it comes to using the loo!  With this one Ethan can just undo the poppers and go to the loo!  Nice and easy.

Bows and Candy, Watermelon, SS15

I totally recommend you checking Bows & Candy out.  It's good to support smaller UK businesses I think!  Alex gives wonderful customer service as well and will sort out any issues in a flash.

Got a kids fashion post?  Link up below!  Thank you to all who join in - please don't forget to link back to my blog in your post and/or display my Funky Kid Friday badge (see sidebar).  If you tweet me your link I can RT it for you and I do my best to visit your post, comment and tweet your link again!

Funky Kid Friday - Messy Fashion

I like to get a bit crafty when I can, but because time (and resources) are limited, it has to be something that is quick, easy and effective!

I've always thought that paint splatter looks quite cool and I thought it'd be easy to replicate and quite good fun!! I am really into monochrome at the moment (as if you hadn't noticed!!) so I bought a big pack of white socks, a pair of white leggings and a pack of white vests.  About two weeks ago I hung them all on my washing line and then I grabbed a paint brush and some black Dylon fabric paint (which I already had) and I simply went outside, loaded up the paint brush and repeatedly splattered both sides of the clothing!

Hanging the clothes on the washing line was a great idea because it meant I could access both sides of the fabric at the same time (if I'd laid them on the floor I wouldn't have been able to turn them over until the first side was dry).  It also meant they could air dry easily.  What wasn't so sensible was that I didn't think about what I was wearing.  I wore my denim dress and quite quickly I ended up with some paint splatters on it!! At that point I took the dress off, put a black top & leggings on, hung the dress on the line with the other clothes and resumed splatting!!

Paint splatter clothes

All in all it took me about half an hour.  Once the paint had dried I brought them inside and ironed them to set the paint.  That was it!!  I think they look amazing.  Even my own dress, it looks cool!

Mocs - Belle & The Bear

Whale Cardi - Yumi

What do you think?

Have you heard of the children's clothing shop Gorgeous Little George?  They have launched their own range of t shirts recently and I'm really loving them.  I bought one for Felix that says "Mummy is a Blogger" and it's getting some real love on Instagram!!

Funky Kid Friday - Twinning

Twinning.  It's a bit of a controversial subject I'd think.  After all, I know people who find the idea of dressing their kids in similar or matching outfits abhorrent (there was a time when I wasn't keen on it myself!).

Do you know what I mean by twinning?  It's all over Instga these days darling!  Getting all matchy matchy with the sprogs in your life.

When I just had Ethan I would sometimes see some families where the children were matching each other and I'd think it a bit tacky.. but like a lot of things in parenting (and life) when your situation changes you suddenly find yourself changing your mind.  You're pregnant with baby no2 and suddenly those Big Brother Little Brother tees don't look so bad.. no, they look cute!  You have two children and suddenly it becomes thrilling when you find shoes that match in their exact (different) sizes.  And then.. you walk around the corner in TKMaxx and... what's this?  THEY HAVE THE SAME SHOES IN MY SIZE TOOO!!  What if I... no... I couldn't, could I?  BUT IT'D BE SOOOOO CUTE!!!

See?  It creeps up on you! Somehow I find it amusing if we go on a family outing and all 4 of us are rocking our chucks.  They might not all the the exact same colour, but we all have a pair of converse, Pete included!  Then there's the DMs.  Both my boys have a pair of black patent DMs and I have a pair of mat black ones.  I love it if we're all wearing them!

You can go a step further too!  Lots of the independent brands I find on Insta these days have some of their stock sized for kids and adults.  You can get matching items from Hello Apparel (stocked at Southwood Stores in the UK) and Whistle and Flute.  One of my fave online shops, The Dandy Kid, have recently got some exclusive stock - they have snagged Scandinavian inspired Canadian brand The Wild kids apparel.  I am excited about this because they have designs in adult sizes as well as kids!

Their designs are simple, modern, quirky and appeal to children and adults alike.  Personally I love the owl and lumberjack designs.  I'm really hoping that The Dandy Kid start to stock some of their other designs too!!

What are your thoughts on twinning?  Do you do it?  Would you do it?

Instaspiration - Chapter One

Yay! I love writing this feature.  How can I not?!  Instagram is just about my favorite online "place".  I can whittle away many an hour there.  Buying things as a result of seeing them on there is impossible to avoid.

Today I'm going to share with you a brand I stumbled upon the other day.  I think I might have heard about them once before a while ago but I must have forgotten to follow.  Clicking on something someone else had posted I found myself there.  And then I found myself placing a big order!

I'd like to introduce you to Chapter One.  Chapter One stock their own handmade teething jewelry and accessories and a range of very cool statement tees.

I've got into teething jewelry big time.  When I had Ethan is was in it's infancy.  These days there are a few larger well known brands but there are also quite a few smaller brands popping up.  The choice of beads and thread has really improved and the jewelry made is so gorgeous that I would happily wear it whether it was child safe or not (please note, but child safe I still mean supervised).  Felix is teething a bit again at the moment because his back molars are coming through, so he's been quite chewy again.  In my experience though, loads of children enjoy chewing beyond baby and toddlerhood!  Ethan has quite a few chewy necklaces and bangles.  He doesn't always chew on them but it's nice to know he won't wreck them if he does chew on them and it stops him sucking/chewing on his sleeves (kids eh?!).

Chapter One Teething Jewelry

I ordered a necklace for me to wear.  Something else I like is that if the necklaces are pulled on they just come undone from the safety clasp.  Even if Felix never chews on this necklace at least I know he won't break it!

Chapter One Teething Jewelry

I ordered a bracelet as well, either for me or one of the boys,  I'm hoping it'll be big enough for me to wear it.  My wrists are pretty small!

I couldn't resist ordering one of the tees.  It was a tricky choice but I opted for one of the ice lolly prints because I think it'll look fab in the summer!

I can't wait for my order to arrive.  In the meantime I think you should go check them out!

Funky Kid Friday - Amazing socks from Greenberry kids

I've gone a bit sock mad this year.  Despite loving clothes for years and kids fashion for a long time, I've never paid too much attention to socks.  In fact, it's quite hard to get "cool" socks from high street shops that don't look tacky.  I'm not into character clothing and loads of kids socks have characters on them..  or are just highly patterned.  Don't get me wrong, I like a pattern, but if your child is wearing highly patterned leggings or trousers you don't necsisarry want to add another loud pattern to the mix!

There are quite a few cool sock brands I've descoverd now, mostly on Instagram!  One shop stocking pretty epic socks is Greenberry Kids.  They have recently started stocking socks from the funky brand Mini Dressing.  You might have seen some of their socks before - their racoon and fox socks are pretty Instafamous!  Have you seen their snake socks though?

My two love snakes so I just new these would be perfect socks for them and Greenberry Kids very kindly provided us with a pair for Ethan to wear!

Ethan was so excited when he saw these socks he wore them for three days straight after which they pretty much slithered their way to the washing machine!!

They look amazing however you wear them and Ethan is very happy to wear them is a win.. but I am really looking forward to summer when he can wear them with shorts and sandals or jelly shoes.  They are going to look fab!

I'd totally reocommend checking out Greenberry Kids.  The socks are quite rare in the UK still and they also stock lots of other coo things!

Funky Kid Friday - a tiring week and a heap of monochrome

What a strange week it's been.  For some unknown reason, Felix has been quite grumpy and on top of that he's been sleeping badly.  His naps haven't been great and at night time.. well, he's waking up and staying awake crying for hours.  It's been hard work.  The only way we can stop him crying is by being with him but he doesn't settle in our bed so that means being in his room.  If we hold him whilst sitting on his chair he wriggles out to get down so that leaves trying to get in the cot with him but again, because one of us is there he sees it as play time.. so we leave him, and he cries.  It's been hard.  I wish I knew what was causing it.  A developmental leap?  Teeth pain?  Despite having quite an amazing vocabulary and being able to speak in quite long sentences he doesn't seem to be able to explain what's causing him to wake up and stay awake.

Ugh.

Needless to say I've not been feeling hugely passionate about clothes this week.  We manged to join in with Innocent Charms' #styleitkids a few times but apart from that we've not made much effort!

We had some goodies arrive from Stitched Up Apparel this week, some of the amazing narwhal print leggings (ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) an adorable graphic cloud print infinity scarf and a cute wall hanging.  Stitched Up Apparel are still running a brand rep search on IG - I'm hoping against hope with all my fingers and toes crossed that we might get picked!!

Funky Kid Friday - Ryder L

Have you seen my new feature?  Once a week I'm going to write about brands/cool feeds/crafty folks that I've found on Instagram.  I'm calling it Instaspiration and it will be published on Saturdays (I think that's the time of week people have a bit of time for some inspiration!).  I love stumbling across new brands, especially small start up businesses, work at home Mum's, UK businesses etc.  Instagram is the perfect place for this.

A brand I love on Instagram is Ryder L.  I've been following them for a while and have wanted to make a purchase for ages.  Something I've noticed about Ryder L is that they have a very defined style and a particularly good range of accesories, especially hats!

In the end it was a hat I decided to purchase.  Ethan really likes a cap for Spring/Summer.  They come in very handy for school as well.  We can never have too many hats, it's good to have a few at home, one in the car, one for school etc.  Ryder L have the coolest range of snap back caps I've seen.  It was hard to choose which one to go for but in the end I chose the one with DUDE on the back - my boys are often described as dudes when I post pics of them on IG!

Ryder L, hats, caps

I was hoping to be able to share a photo of Ethan wearing the cap but unfortunately the post person decided to deliver my parcel to the wrong address - goodness knows where!  As a result it's ended up back at Ryder L HQ.  They are very kindly sending it straight back out to us, but how odd!!

Luckily there are loads of gorgeous pictures from the Ryder L shop for me to share.

Ryder L, kids fashion

Something else very exciting - Ryder L are holding a Brand Enthusiast search on IG at the moment.  If you have stylish kids you might want to enter.  Details are on IG but it's running for a few more days so go check it out!
