Where has my Mummy style gone?

I don't seem to have done very much blogging about my style and clothes lately.  Of course, it's not that I haven't been bothering with what I wear, I have.  I still plan my outfits the day before (after checking the forecast of course!!) and I still like wearing lovely bright colours and patterns and putting my make up on.  For some reason though, the blog has been more about the boys and the house over the last few weeks....

So.. time for a long over due post on what I've been wearing!

It was my birthday last week and I treated myself to some new footwear - some shoes I've been lusting over for many months now.  With summer around the corner (I hope!) these were the perfect new purchases, some Saltwater Sandals and some Sunjellies! Yay!

I'm enjoying wearing both pairs.  They are very comfy and don't need wearing in either (well, not for me).  If you do find them uncomfortable, Sun-San recommend wetting your Saltwaters and then wearing them so they mould to your feet.

Clothing wise, I've picked up some really fantastic items in Asda lately.  Their range improves constantly and gets updated on what seems like a weekly basis, sometimes even more frequently! It's really hard not to pick something up when I pop in there, especially as it's close to Ethan's school and we're always in need of more milk or bananas.

The denim pinafore was a total impulse buy.  There was just one there in my size, it was hanging all by itself in amongst some other dresses and it just jumped into my basket. Ehem.  Anyway, I'm glad I got it, it's really cute!

The cherry blossom dress I bought online and I love it.  The print and material are really pretty.  It's quite short but is fine with tights and looks best worn with a thick waist belt.

Leggings, leggings, I LOVE leggings!

I'm not sure when it started, but I have fallen for leggings in a big way and my collection is growing all the time.

They are so comfy.  You can wear them with a T-shirt, a dress, a skirt.  They are just the perfect mum outfit solution!

These are a couple of my newest editions:

H&M Tiger Leggings
H&M Leggings

Salt City Emporium Leggings

The top pair are H&M.  I spotted them in a catalogue a few months ago but decided to buy a zigzag pair instead.  I adore my zigzag pair, they fit really well, so when I spotted these for 99p on eBay I decided to take a punt.  As you can see, they are now mine! Bargain!

The bottom pair are one of my favourite brands, Salt City Emporium.  I'm always harping on about them, but I think their prints are some of the coolest out there.  I picked these babies up in their sale and less than a week later they arrived through my front door.  I love buying something like these - you can bet no one else in Clevedon will be rocking these babies!

A Lotta Love

I am really in love with my Lotta From Stockholm clogs.  I bought them last summer, but didn't feel confident enough to wear them very much.  However, in the last few weeks, whenever the sun has popped out, I've decided to wear my clogs and they are quickly becoming my "Happy Shoes".

I think what has most surprised me about these clogs is how comfortable they actually are.  They are slightly differerent to walk in due to being made from wood - obviously they don't flex when you walk.  So, you do have to walk in a more "clompy" fashion.. but it isn't hard to do, and honestly, they are some of the most comfortable shoes I own!

I wore them all day on Saturday.  We walked from our house to the seafront and back again - a good 45 minute walk each way and a lot of standing up in between.  My feet were fine.  No rubbed toes, no achy legs.  I wore them again yesterday, walking around Bristol.  Again, no pain afterwards.

They are now my favourite choice for the school run as long as the weather is dry.  They lift my spirits and make me feel less drab.  I certainly don't feel like a slummy Mummy in them!

If you've ever considered a pair but been worried about how wearable and comfortable they'd be, I'd say don't worry, go for it.  You can wear them all year round -  it's not that warm at the moment so I'm wearing them with tights.  Personally, I think they look best when worn with tights for an even bolder look!

Clouds go away, Clogs come out!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Breath deep! Breath it in! Can you smell it? Nooooo! Don't be disgusting!  I know I have three males in my house, but NO! I'm talking about Spring.  Can you smell it in the air?  It may be only March, but "officially" it's Spring and today it really feels like it.

The clouds have blown away, the sky is blue and the sun is out.  It's not warm.  Of course not.  But, I can feel the sunshine on my face, smell the sweetness that comes with Spring just around the corner.  Hurrah!

To celebrate, my Lotta From Stockholm clogs have been on my feet for the school run.  I adore these shoes.  For me, these are heels.  I don't really do heels.  Despite being short, I just prefer flats or small heels.  I like to be able to walk and stay comfy.  That's what's so good about these shoes though.  They are surprisingly comfortable.  I say surprisingly because, well, clogs always look quite heavy and clompy.  You won't believe me until you try some though!

Something I really love about these clogs is how good they look with brightly coloured tights.  Something which is great for someone like me who has more pairs of tights than there are raisins in a Sunmaid multipack!  I think coloured tights really make them pop.

I've also been rocking my new coat from (shhhh) Tesco!  This coat looks waaaaaaaaaay more pricey than it was. Half price in their sale at £25 but with some clubcard vouchers, it cost me less than £10!! Total bargain.  I love how it looks - it's very striking.  I wish it had pockets though.

Real Mom Style - Winter colours

This weeks Real Mum Style (or Mom if you're from the USA!) is brought to you by tiredness - that's the badge of all Mum's out there, isn't it!

Half term has just gone.  It is lovely not to have the school run in the mornings and not to have to rush to get Ethan and Felix dressed, but the weather wasn't very kind to us (as is often the case in February in the UK!) and getting out and about wasn't easy.  We didn't get up to a great deal.  I couldn't get any blogging done during Felix's naps due to Ethan being around so I had a week off from blogging (well, I was working on background work, emails etc until late most evenings!!).

So... yes.  I'm a bit tired and quite happy to be having a normal week this week.

One of my favourite colour groupings for Autumn & Winter is yellow, brown, orange, maroon & turquoise.  I love this kind of palate.  It's colourful and fun  but without being too in your face.  I styled today's outfit around a dress I bought a little while back in a charity shop and I think it's come together quite well.  Even my hair and slippers fit in!!

I feel happy in this outfit.  I might be tired and have no make up on my eyes (eye infection - joy!) but I feel pretty good.  It lifts my mood - and that's a good thing!

Real Mom Style Linky - Expressing Myself

My dear blogging friend Maria has, with a couple of other bloggers, started up a new fashion/style linky for blogging Mums with a sense of style and today is the first time it's being held - exciting!  I've been a bit lax with the personal style blog posts of late so I'm using this as a good chance to get back into showing off Mummy style.

Getting dressed and the clothes I wear are a big deal to me.  I know loads of people who just throw their clothes on in the morning not at all concerned how they look or whether what they are wearing is stylish or even suits them and they are perfectly happy like that.  Why shouldn't they be?  Clothes don't define us.  However, I personally do like to express myself through my clothing.  I feel better when I have an "outfit" on, not just clothes.  During the week I always plan and organise my clothes for the next day so that getting ready in the morning is simple.  As long as you know what you're doing the next day and what the weather is supposed to be doing, it's easy and worth doing.  It's so much easier not having to think in the morning when time is tight!

I have quite a mixed style I think.  I love skirts and dresses but also love leggings and jeans.  I tend to tailor what I'm wearing according to what I'm doing and the weather.  Some of my clothes don't work well with my rain coat so I'll avoid them if I believe it's going to rain.  Some days, if they are going to be active, or involve a lot of sitting on the floor with an active baby are better suited to jeans or leggings.  You get the picture.

I thought I'd share a few of my most recent outfits.  Very often, due to being very busy with the children, my photos are just taken on my phone, so please excuse the quality.  Hopefully you'll get the idea!
