Local Limelight: Paddling at the Marine Lake - perfect summer memories

Let's ignore the fact it's raining outside as I write this.  Last weekend it was hot. SO HOT.  Sunny. Lovely.

Ethan and I went to our local cinema for Kids Club to watch the most recent Studio Ghibli film on Saturday morning and afterwards Pete and Felix met us and we set off for the seafront.

I love living in Clevedon.  Yes, it's not the most "happening" place in the world, it's an old Victorian seaside town.. but it is beautiful.  We have so many facilties.  Yes, not as many as you'd get in the city but I feel we are much better off than surrounding towns.  We have a pool, a cinema, schools, playgrounds, nice shopping areas and best of all, our award winning pier and seafront.  Did you know a lot of Broadchurch was filmed here?  And Never Let Me Go did some filming here and featured the pier on their film poster.

Ethan and I decided to paddle in the Marine lake - it was a bit seaweedy but quite pleasant to stand in and Ethan had a whale of a time looking at all of the crabs other people had caught.

We popped to the playground afterwards and had an ice cream.

These are the kinds of days you look back on with the fondest memories, I know from experience.  They are the "perfect" days.  Even though not every moment during them is perfect (screaming hot baby, dirty nappies, the usual!) but when you look back, it's like you can feel the sunshine on your face, the sounds of happy children, taste the salty air and the sticky ice cream.  Precious.

  1. These are indeed perfect days! I look back so fondly at pushing mine at the park just like this and now they are teens. Did I mention that I went to school in clevedon? It was my home town from age 5 - 9 and I loved living walking distance of the sea front. I'm sure I did a sponsored Brownie walk around that playground and field. Lovely to see your photos of your children enjoying the town too.

    1. Did you really? Gosh, isn't it a small world!! I expect you did walk around there - this place hasn't changed all that much. I grew up in Nailsea so we visited Clevedon a lot and the seafront is pretty much the same.. x

  3. Sounds like a lovely area to live. We moved from Dartmouth almost 2 years ago and really miss the coast. We are actually heading to the beach tomorrow x

    1. Hope you had fun at the beach! There are plenty of places I could think of moving happily to but I really do love the coast so that always features heavily.. If I had to live inland I'd need to be near the canals/river. Love that too!! x

  4. Love Studio Ghilbi. You are right about how some days just feel right. Good parent moment. We had friends that used to live in Clevedon. Loved visiting them. #CountryKids

  5. Aww looks lovely, I would love to live near the beach, I always get so jealous when I see people just popping to the beach for an hour. It takes us over that to get to a beach so it's a rare occurrence. Looks lovely #countrykids

  7. Love going there for a walk! My son love your beach and the boats. We have to confess that we visited this place lots of times but we never visited the pier yet cuz of the entrance fee.
