Magpie Monday - teapots, coffee-pots and a jug.

Howdy Bargain Hunters!

Apart from a second hand portable training loo seat thingamagig I bought on eBay on Sunday, I've not been doing much bargain hunting in the last week.. so I thought I'd feature things I've bought in the past today.  Namely tea pots.

I don't actually drink tea.  I drink herbal tea, but not proper tea.  It's not very often at all I have the need for a teapot, as you can imagine.  I very rarely need to brew a pot of tea, if I have a large group of tea drinkers round perhaps.. but most people I know prefer coffee!! Nevertheless, I have a collection of teapots.  I love them.  Love the way they look and love how many different ones there are!  I can't collect too many, we don't have enough space.. I suspect if we have a larger house one day with a big kitchen  my collection will increase! This is how it stands for now:

Ahh, my lovely owl teapot.  I had to buy this when I saw it on eBay.  I love owls.  I don't think it's all that rare or worth very much, I saw one in a charity shop recently, exactly the same, for only a couple of quid.  I paid about the same for mine including the postage.  I don't mind though, because I just love it from the point of view of someone who collects owl "stuff".  I've used it.  It works just fine... but it's mainly for looking at.

I adore this teapot.  It's totally unusable due to rust, so it's purely for looking at.  I'm not sure how old it is, but it makes me so happy to look at.  Again I got this on eBay for about £4.  It feels to me like something from a Romany Gypsy caravan.

Now..here you have the teapot I actually do use when I need a teapot.  Yet another eBay find... no more than a few pounds again.  Quite obviously decorated by hand.  It's just a nice usable teapot.  Next to it you have my enamel coffee-pot which I rescued from my Mum's garden.  I'm not really sure what it was doing there.. it was still in excellent condition and perfectly usable.  I just brought it home with me one day.  I've put coffee in it a few times, but mostly I like looking at it.

Here is my happy stripy jug.  I use this for flowers on the windowsill in my kitchen.  I bought it because it reminds me of some other pottery items I have.  It is dated 1998 underneath.  Not too old of course, but at least I know when it was made!  I got this in a local charity shop for 99p.

So.. there we have it for this week!  Don't forget to head over to Missie Lizzie's blog to see what the other magpies have been grabbing!  Hopefully next week I'll have been able to scavenge the local charity shops.. I should think so because it's the holidays and all the groups/clubs are on a break so we'll have plenty of time.

  1. I am particularly in love with the enamel coffee pot. I have a red one from a jumble sale in france. England doesn't have enough enamel!
Good work pinching it. I'm often doing that to my own mamma, drives her up the wall!
